Достижение некоторого заданного (необязательно наивысшего или наинизшего) значения критерия качества функционирования системы. Например, при решении многокритериальных задач можно выбрать какую-то одну цель и по отношению к ней достичь строгого оптимума, а для других — ограничиться П.о., т.е. достичь определенного результата, равного заданному значению (или, что подсказывается характером задачи, — «не большего» или «не меньшего» по сравнению с ним).
